“For the Kingdom of God is not in talk only, but in power.”
It is my desire as the Apostle Paul stated here to see a complete work of glory being released in these days – one that communicates the good news of Jesus and bustles with the power of His resurrection and ready for demonstration. 1 Cor 4:20
I believe that the only way we are going to see heaven’s full potential unleashed these days is by allowing our faith to be fused with a love for God’s word – both the logos and the rhema, coupled with an insatiable appetite to walk in dunamis power. Many modern believers are being led away by various winds of doctrine, most of which are not new, just rearing their ugly heads this day in age in a way that is reinterpreted for postmodern culture. From ceasing to believe in the devil, the second return of Christ, the validity and authority of scripture to even denying the existence of the supernatural altogether, we have quite a crisis of belief – or should I say unbelief on our hands.
The good news is that if “Jesus Christ is the same today, yesterday and forever” as scripture so boldly declares, than the wind still blows whether one believes it does or not! Sometimes it is only a question of positioning oneself to feel it. If Angels showed up in Jesus’ day, then rest assured they are still showing up today. He and the cosmos He created are the same – past, present and future. If demons were being cast out in Jesus’ day, then the trend continues today for those who dare to step into the depths of His heart.
We have seen many amazing things over the past seven and a half years of ministry in what I like to call the wild, whacky and wonderful world of the Holy Ghost. Why wild, whacky and wonderful you ask?Wild because He shows up with power and levels entire crowds in His glory. Whacky because you never know what will happen next with the Holy Spirit. He can take you up in a vision, or cause hundreds of people to laugh until they cry. Wonderful because His presence is sweeter than the sweetest wine and He is our Comforter.
We have seen whole crowds be drawn into trances (greek – ecstasies – New Testament word), deaf ears healed, a few accounts of resurrection from the dead, small children being drawn to heaven and then explaining to their parents what Jesus looked like, gold dust, shining countenance on people, physical clouds of glory and so much more.
Having been on the dark side of the supernatural world years ago, I understand that these things are not to be praised in and of themselves, but that they are by-products that flow from Truth Himself. All of the things aforementioned are signs and wonders, and sings and wonders exist for one purpose: To confirm the reality and glory of the secret of the ages – Christ Jesus the Hope of Glory! Sometimes we do not realize just what type of role the work of Christ at the cross plays in our understanding and access into the glory realm, and I think it’s about time that we define that line.
I have had people mention to me that they see many ministries that have a stronger hand in either the word or the supernatural, but not always equal parts of both. I don’t believe you can have one without the other and see heaven’s results in your ministry! Some mention that they love one ministry, but they wish that they would walk in more power. Their messages are great, but there is no demonstration. Others mention the names of ministries that have many wonderful manifestations and Holy Spirit encounters, but do not lay a solid scriptural foundation, or better yet, do not truly understand the work of the cross and the power of the resurrection. I don’t care what great miracles you see, if you do not get excited over the fact that Jesus Christ did not just die for you, but He died AS you, then you do not yet believe the gospel! Your face is yet partially veiled to the fullness of His glory and it’s operation around you. Being born again was never something that you could accomplish on your own, it was only something that Jesus Christ could accomplish by bearing humanity and their sin in His own body on a cross and raising them again to new life! In the same way, you must understand that because of Jesus’ desire to reconcile you by His own blood, He will make sure of it that you will never be able to successfully reach the tree of life on your own dime. There are supernatural principalities and powers set in place to ensure that the cross of Christ is the only entryway into glory, and Jesus Christ is the Head of these Principalities and Powers.
Let me explain.
In the beginning it would have been absurd to try to tell Adam and Eve that Angels or the supernatural did not exist or that it could not be seen. There are currently scores of beings and powers that we have no idea even exist, but they all exist for God’s pleasure!
The first time Angels are mentioned is in Genesis 3:34:
“So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.”
Now we can see that one of the Holy Angel’s first jobs delegated by the Lord was to block the way to the tree of life. These powers were put in place so that the devil’s plan could not be realized. What was His plan? To become higher than God – starting with convincing man that they could enlighten themselves and that they did not need God’s help. That they must reach or obtain something that they inherently already had! I have learned one thing over the years: Seeking the benefits without the covenant is witchcraft. This is exactly what the enemy proposed to Adam and Eve. Why does sex sell and control so much of our culture? Because the spirit of witchcraft is behind the sex industry which entices men to seek benefits without covenant. Sexual sin is a sin against your own body according to scripture (1 Cor 6:18). When benefits are drawn on void of the context of covenant, the supernatural realm around us swings into full action. Just because something is legal, does not mean it is moral or holy. Sorcery is legal in our country, but it is not holy. A psychic is dealing the benefits without covenant, and is in a danger zone. In the same way however, when we invite the Holy Spirit into our lives and participate in the covenant that has been established between the Father and the Son, things change! With the gospel, you can have your cake and eat it too.
In Genesis 3 which we read earlier, God placed to Angels of fire at the entrance of the garden. Had he not, His Son would have never been glorified and had the opportunity to take on the death of humanity in exchange for His life. Although Adam and Eve couldn’t understand why this was delegated by their loving God, He was making sure to cut off any way that they might think that in their own power, they could reconcile themselves back to God and gain His life in their bodies again.
Now here we see a clear picture – God is saying “Don’t even try it.”
Instead of man attempting to work his way back to the tree of life, God implements a plan to bring the tree of life to them. The cross.
Every religious attempt at working one’s way toward God is in essence man trying to work his way back to the tree of life, when the Lord says “No, I’ll go to the tree and then I’ll bring Eden into you by my living Spirit!”
So this Kingdom Jesus preached of, it’s God’s eden freely given to us as a gift!
From the beginning Angels and other types of spirit beings were a normal integration on the earth and in the heavens, but when man believed a lie, his face was veiled from God’s glory. When men enter into covenant by trespassing (failure to do the right thing), their face becomes veiled again. Picture it as a blindfold. When you wear a blindfold, the earth and everything in it still exists, you are simply blinded.
When you receive the Spirit of Adoption by which we cry “Abba, FATHER!”, you now have full access to the wild, the whacky and the wonderful without the destruction that comes by benefits without covenant! You can now begin to explore this new world, and it’s all because of the cross. The lamb was slain from the foundation of the world in the heart of the Father for the bringing of millions of sons into glory, and He had lifted the veil for certain ones for thousands of years so that they might see His power in demonstration. When the veil was torn as Jesus’ spirit left His body, it was a sign that full access had now come upon all men; They only need believe!
At the cross of Christ – the veil was torn for all of humanity!
As we drink in His love and behold His glory, we will see more and things will become clearer. Just as a bodybuilder has to practice lifting weights, we need to practice seeing in the spirit – the veil is gone! We must practice His presence.
In all reality, what you are drinking determines what you are seeing. In 1 Corinthians 12:13, it states
“We were all made to drink into one Spirit.”
If you are drinking in the revelation of Christ and Him crucified each and every day and having communion with Holy Spirit, you’re eyes will be opened and you will begin to recognize the glory of God everywhere. You may see Angels, you may see signs and wonders, you may just have a special love for people that you never had before – a supernatural love. A love that could not originate in the depths of your own flesh and blood heart. When your mind is set on things above, you will behold the victorious reality of Christ in all things. If you are drinking in lies, the spirit of this world, manipulation, perversion or anything else that is worldly, you will have quite a difficult time recognizing the glory of God everywhere that you look because your spirit has become polluted.
“Therefore, because we have these promises, beloved, let us purify ourselves from all impurity of the flesh and spirit and let us cultivate holiness in the awe of God.” 2 Cor 7:1
One of the number one spiritual pollutants that take a viscous hold on many unawares is that of religion. Working your way to God and getting involved in performance based Christianity will quickly lead you to defeat and blinding by self-sewn veil. You have full access because of the blood of Jesus, you have the mind of Christ!
Don’t get distracted by the natural, but thrive from the supernatural. It is your birthright.
So is it dangerous to quote in quote – be too “heavenly minded to be of any earthly good”?
“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand go the throne of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”
When you are heavenly minded, you are of exceptional earthly good.
