Getting Free of the Hamster Wheel

The Lord is redefining His church and calling them out of a place of stagnancy and redundancy into a place of passion again!

Have you ever felt as if you were running on a Christian hamster wheel, going through churchy motions but getting nowhere? The Lord has been speaking to me concerning His intentions for His church – and His Kingdom. When we lose sight of His Kingdom, our lives can be easily reduced to playing church which is no fun after long.

Jesus only spoke of His church – or Ekklesia roughly 3 times and mainly in the book of Matthew (Matthew 16:18, 18:17).

When I think of the Lord’s original idea for His called-out assembly (church), I picture a supernatural army of sons and daughters pulsing with the DNA of heaven! A passionate expression of His Kingdom on the earth. I believe that in order to see the fruit of Jesus on the earth, we must remember to live from Kingdom of Heaven, not the Kingdom of the church. This is not to say anything negative concerning the body of Christ, to the contrary it is to put these subjects in proper context for maximum application and understanding. Scripture never declared “the kingdom of the church is at hand!” No, on the contrary it’s “the Kingdom of HEAVEN is at hand.” The church is not meant to be a box in which we contain and theorize heaven, and then break it into little bits so the world can chew them up as they feel comfortable, the church is meant to be simply a gathering of those who were bore of His own body – the embassy of heaven on the earth.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3 ESV

So if every person on the planet has the potential to wake up and smell the glory – that is to receive Christ and become sons and daughters – you’d better believe the enemy would love to keep them on a hamster wheel going nowhere in the name of “not offending someone”. Let me tell you something. When GOD shows up, people know that GOD shows up. Whether they admit it or not, their very DNA cries out!

The church of Jesus Christ should be a place of equipping in love that propels people into their Kingdom destinies! Sadly, our churches can be training centers that only end up training believers to go through churchy motions. The Lord is shifting this! The church is not meant to be a place where we get trained to go through the motions, it’s mean to be a gathering and equipping of the representatives of the kingdom of heaven.

Below I have outlined some prophetic steps of wisdom that I feel the Lord has given me to help free you from the redundant hamster wheel of churchianity into passionate, Kingdom living which will result in an effective, powerful church as well as personal life:

  1. Camp around the cloud

“So it was continuously; the cloud would cover it by day, and the appearance of fire by night. Whenever the cloud was lifted from over the tent, afterward the sons of Israel would then set out; and in the place where the cloud settled down, there the sons of Israel would camp. At the command of the LORD the sons of Israel would set out, and at the command of the LORD they would camp; as long as the cloud settled over the tabernacle, they remained camped out.” Numbers 9:16-17

Kingdom people are led by the Spirit. The easiest method for me is to simply ask Holy Spirit “Where is your wind blowing?” And move in that direction. We can experience an incredible stagnancy and/or burn out if we do not camp around the cloud of His glory.

  1. Don’t eat stale manna

“ This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded: ‘Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of your persons. Take ye every man for those who are in his tents. And the children of Israel did so and gathered, some more, some less. And when they measured it with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating. And Moses said, “Let no man leave any of it until the morning.” Notwithstanding, they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left part of it until the morning, and it bred worms and stank. And Moses was wroth with them.” Exodus 16:16 –  20

It is imperative that we thrive on fresh revelation from heaven! Stale bread never satisfies anyone, and neither will yesterdays revelation. Ask the Lord for fresh bread each day and you will be energized and ready to release words of life.

IF you feel as though you are stuck and have nothing fresh to run with:

The Lord revealed to me a strategy for moving forward even when you feel that you have not received any fresh bread from heaven recently. In Genesis Chapter 35, Jacob built a memorial and called it “The place the Lord spoke to me” (Read the entire chapter of Genesis 35!). Jacob was stirred. Jacob was blessed by the presence of the Lord, so He set up a constant – a place of habitation. If you can’t remember the last time God spoke with you, it may be time for a fresh visitation! Don’t settle for stale bread. When he does speak to you, set up a memorial in your spirit that you can return to while you are waiting on further direction. If you remember and celebrate each time the Lord speaks to you, you will become a community of nations and kings in the same way that Jacob (Israel) was promise to be!

  1. Challenge yourself to step out in faith

If you find yourself feeling stagnant or unproductive, challenge yourself to step out in faith by praying for someone or giving someone a word. Practice the operation of the gifts that are in you such as faith, miracles, exhortation, etc.

When you do this, chances are the enemy may tempt you to feel stupid about your faith challenge, and this brings me to the next point.

  1. Stop apologizing for the supernatural

You must have supernatural confirmation backing up your efforts. The enemy and haters will have nothing to say when God shows up behind you. Mark 16:17 says “These signs will accompany those who believe…”, not “might” accompany, or “will accompany only before 70 AD”. Never apologize for heaven being displayed through your life.

  1. Keep your eyes on your assignment

Kingdom people are fueled by accepting assignments. Jesus accepted His assignment and now we are all free! How many people will you set free if you receive yours – and go for it?

What is a heavenly assignment?

An assignment is what the Father’s doing. When you seek the Father and He gives you a desire or shows you something, take that as an invitation to join in! Jesus did what He saw the father doing – that was His assignment (John 5:19)

Be encouraged on your Kingdom journey my friends, you are not alone!
